M 'n' H Koi

A brief look into how we got started and facilities we use.

Our Background/History

Marlon and I started off like most people with a small round pond with a waterfall and a few Gold fish and Koi, we soon replaced the Gold fish with Koi and after another year decided to replace our 1,000 gallon pond with a larger more formal pond this as usually happens becomes a more major project than originally planed.

One choice we made was to go for the new (at the time Nexus filtration system) using this filter enabled us to have a larger pond than originally planed as the Nexus does not require as much room as a 3 bay filter so the pond is now 5,000 gallons and houses approximately 60 varying sizes of Koi.

We have taken the hobby one step further than most and have now become Koi dealers which is the reason for this web site, we do like to buy in very small Koi and watch them grow the smallest being fry last year at about ¾” they were hard work for Marlon but we enjoyed watching them grow, but with full time work these were not so easy to keep so we now go in for about 2” upwards that we keep in the garage which we have converted into a fish house. We hope in the next year or two to breed with a trio of our own Koi.

Earlier this year we started to sell a few of the Koi through the local papers and found that we got a very good response so over the last few months we have made a lot of adjustments to the fish house and we have now been passed by the council to become dealers so we hope you will be interested in coming to view for yourselves.
